"I was 15 when the police led us away from a forest where we were doing a film with effects as in the major role. Worried neighbours had called the police because they had feared a gunshooting session. We got searched and at the sight of our equipment and the piece of film, there just shook their head and said "you are sick people". They did not press charges against me but was lucky to get away without trouble. We also got away from the extra cost of the -according to the police themselves- hundred head team and the SWAT squad."

MAEX STEEL bought his first own video camera when he was 17 and started to produce weird films with some friends. Some of them were shown at the Munich Film Festival but never received the attention they deserved due to their quirkiness. At that time the Natraj-Tempel and the UltraSchall made him swap his punk bars for a new scene, in which he spent more and more time.

Through different parties mainly Techno and Minimal he got in contact with visual artists. The boring chain of images without any connection or system stroke him. There surely were talented visual artists around but definitely not at Goa Parties in Munich where automatic computer created patterns were local custom, if that it is to say any kind of visual at all.

The interest was awaken and since that day the computer runs day and night ready for new ideas. The camera plays most of the time along. From the beginning it was essential to him that the majority of his visual art was created by his very own hand. Through the mixing of up to four different video sources, new purely individual collages emerge. Maex Steel's "handwriting" is always recognisable though.

The creation of clips is a tedious process which never ends which can endlessly be improved which definitely will be rectified, sharpened up, enhanced. He started organising goa parties from 2004 in and around Munich, events which gave him the ideal platform to develop his talent as a visual and decoration artist. 2006 was a kind of quick-off for his live visual performances. He became a resident at the Backstage Parties and a welcomed artist at the Schmox's and Artist United's events.

His reputation cannot be discussed in the Munich area. Maex-Steel took over the visual performance for acts of Etnica, Cosmosis, Klopfgeister and many more Dj`s and Live Acts.
